Burgess is a native of Jacksonville and excited to continue to provide veterinary services to the town she calls home. She is also passionate about One Health and international veterinary medicine, with previous veterinary trips to Belize, Zambia, Honduras, Ecuador and Nicaragua.ĭr. She then continued post-graduate training at the Canine Rehabilitation Institute to become a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT), completed in the fall of 2015. Throughout her internship, she received her certification in veterinary acupuncture and further training in herbal medicines at the Chi Institute, completed in the fall of 2012. Burgess remained at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine to complete a one-year specialty internship in Integrative Medicine, including rehabilitation, acupuncture, nutrition and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. She is a graduate of the University of Florida (Go Gators!!), earning her Bachelors in Animal Sciences and Zoology in 2008, as well as Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and International Veterinary Medicine Certificate in 2012. Jessie Burgess served as a relief veterinarian for several years before officially joining the team at Southside Animal Clinic in February of 2020. Her favorite hobbies include going to the beach and traveling (especially internationally).ĭr. Wilson loves spending quality time with her son, Lane, and daughter, Peytan Grace, and her three dogs. Wilson loves all aspects of veterinary medicine and has a special interest in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and emergency critical care. Wilson and her family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida to continue her veterinary career.ĭr. Wilson then entered private practice as sole proprietor of the Feliciana Veterinary Hospital in Jackson, Louisiana where she practiced until late 2019. Wilson joined the Louisiana Department of Corrections, Prison Enterprises, where she served as the veterinarian responsible for overseeing the preventative and medical care of a large variety of domestic and farm animals. Following graduation from vet school, Dr. Virgin Islands, where she graduated with high honors in 2005. She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the U.S. Wilson began her veterinary career in 2001 with an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology at the Louisiana State University in Equine Intensive Care Unit.
