Consequently, Iowa can be dealt catastrophic damage by well-aimed AP shells. Even though her citadel is at the ship's third deck at roughly waterline height, the third deck plating can be overmatched by every battleship in her matchmaking spread.

Additionally, she gains access to Artillery Plotting Room Modification 2, which provides a significant reduction to her dispersion.Įxposing her flat broadside to enemies is as inadvisable in Iowa as it is in most battleships. Her AP shells get on target faster, and new Iowa captains should allow a few games to learn how to adjust leading their shots accordingly. Iowa’s barrels are 50 caliber (as opposed to North Carolina’s 45 caliber barrels) and the improvement in the velocity of her armor-piercing shells is notable. The key differences are found in Iowa’s handling - she is faster, with a larger turning circle and slower rudder shift speed - slightly improved AA suite, and longer main battery rifles. Veterans of North Carolina will be well-familiar with how Iowa plays, as both ships are laid out in an identical AB-X turret arrangement. The historical counterpart of the famed battleship Yamato, Tier IX's Iowa is the pinnacle of the various fast battleship designs the United States commissioned into service before and during World War II. The data presented in the AA Defense sidebar section may be incorrect.įor a graphic summary of ships Tiers VIII thru XI see LittleWhiteMouse's "Actual AA DPS". So I put the artillery plotting room 2 mod back and I am happily deleting cruisers and punishing BB sides once again.Warning. But on the upside I get to shoot more often and complain about the rubbish dispersion more often. I now had turret traverse that sux and shell dispersion that sux. I swapped out main battery accuracy mod for the faster reload mod.

I don't have the Iowa per se, but I have had the Mighty Mo for quite a while. Your sister Missouri can do it because she have radar, but you dont so keep your distance so you can back to concealment after each salvo If you decide to go w/o it, you have to be very agressive and push right into the enemy 12km mark where your shots isnt as crazily inaccurate, but then again it is suicidal to do so in an Iowa. It is extremely dispersed and can ruin many oppertunity that only happen once per match.

Without the accuracy mod, your shells will make you pull your hairs out. If you want faster reload, take Adrenaline Rush, it fits the bill more. You want every chance you can get to accurately nail broadside ship. You really dont want the extra reload on an Iowa as US BB rely on getting broadside to deal any kind of heavy damage to the enemy team.
